I never wanted to be a wedding photographer and that's why i think i should be yours, let me re -phrase
I was always T E R R I F I E D of messing up on someone's most important day until my co-worker gave me the " if it's not you, I Just won't have a photographer" and I could not let that happen!!!
that was in 2018 and since then I have photographed over 100 weddings and I could not be more thankful for that push!
I'm deeply sentimental and a giant empath - which I used to think was a flaw and that there was something wrong with me for feeling everything so deeply and being so sensitive. But how lucky am I to feel so much!!! I cry at every wedding especially during your ceremony and special dances , my face always hurts from smiling ear to ear while documenting your moments, I get attached …to well, everything and i always want everyone to feel included, special and have the best experience. Expressing my big feelings is what got me to where I am today - discovering the hit new app Instagram at the ripe age of 12 upgraded me from taking photos of my dolls and nature everyday to self portraits which is how I would express myself and cope with my emotions which led to friends and acquaintances wanting me to take their photos and as they say the rest was history and “ Erica ( Abel) VanHorn photography was built from the ground up. I I am self taught, but I have put 1,000s of hours and dollars into my education and love for photography to give my clientele the best possible experience and high quality and knowledge of photography.

For as long as I remember I’ve always had a camera in hand, started with my parents point and shoot camera and a iPod touch , from walking around the neighborhood with my best friends posing and taking photos to nature, I wanted to take photos of everything!!! When I turned 15 my parents got me— my back then dream camera - a canon rebel T3i, and the rest is history, my silly photoshoots with my friends turned into taking senior and Family Photos, getting paid and now here we are 13 years later living my dream career. I always thought I’d be a National Geographic Photographer or a travel landscape photographer. I’m so thankful that turned into a Wedding and Portrait photographer. I could not imagine not being able To be a part of people’s lives and document their moments big and small. It’s truly the greatest blessing and brings me so much joy. I want to be there for
You for everything!

Beyond blessed is a good way to start to describe how I feel about being able to live out my dream but there are truly no words. when that little girl I was, started taking photos I had NO CLUE I’d be where I am today, documenting peoples memories all over the country
for me, it’s so much more than picking up a camera and taking some photos,
I truly love what I do so SO much, to be so involved with your day, your vison and your memories. you get to look back at moments frozen in a photograph for the rest of your life and I am the one that took that photo like WHAT! mind blowing!!! nothing makes me happier than documenting moments that you will cherish forever and making you feel happy! this is truly my passion, MY DREAM and what I believe God put me on this earth to do.
My Approach
I always aim to create an experience that feels comfortable, intentional, creative, and completely authentic to you.
My sessions are stress-free, fun, and full of genuine moments. I want you to feel your absolute best—because when you’re comfortable, the magic happens. I’ll be your #1 hype girl the entire time (seriously, I can’t help it!), cheering you on and making sure you feel confident every step of the way.
I blend a mix of documentary-style storytelling with relaxed, natural posing. I’ll guide you when you need it, but I also love to just go with the flow and capture what unfolds.
My editing style is inspired by nature, the nostalgia of film, and the feeling of the moment itself. Light changes, surroundings shift, people move—and that’s what makes each photo unique and honest. I hand edit every photo one by one to ensure it's perfection , that's something important to me.
